Worse Addictions: episode 11

In case you missed it, there's been quite a lot of fuss over Matthew Newton's debut feature, special recognition by the inaugural Sydney Film Festival's Official Competition, critical acclaim both here in Australia and in the US, yet it took almost a year for THREE BLIND MICE to find a distributor and an even tougher time finding screens to show the film. You can catch it in Sydney, where the film was shot, playing for the next two Friday nights (25/09, 02/10) at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington and it comes with the highest recommendations of the Worse Addictions crew. Download the episode 11 to hear Scott, Alex, Matt and Dan share their views on this new Aussie pic. Also in the episode, Matt curates a discussion on MOVIE REMAKES, like em or loathe them they have always been a part of the cinematic fabric. The team share their top and worst three remakes of all time and pitch their idea for the ultimate remake. Send your feedback to worseaddictions[at]gmail[dot]com

Worse Addictions: Episode 7

Seven days to create the world, seven deadly sins, Seven Samurai, Seven Brides For Seven Brothersand now seven episodes of Worse Addictions. Alex, Josh, Matt and Scott made their way to down to Melbourne last week to partake in festivities of film, sample the local delights of fast food joint Lord of the Flies and hangout in all the coolest bars. The guys gorged themselves on movies and once they managed to drag Josh away from the front row of the Forum Theatre they sat down and discussed Melbourne International Film Festival pics Balibo, Treeless Mountain and Moon. Not satisfied and knowing that our lovely Worse Addictions listeners have been neglected as we indulged, we also bring you a review of Sam Raimi's return to horror Drag Me To Hell. Finally the guys found time to discuss Michael Mann's films Collateral and Miami Vice. Hope you enjoy this latest episode, as always please feel free to email feedback to worseaddictions[at]gmail.com

Worse Addictions: Episode 6

We're back! After what was a bit of a balls up followed by a week off podcasting, Worse Addictions is back, and a bit late. Which reminds me of that scene in Die Harder when the BA flight assistant assures some lady British Airways is just like the British Rail, they may be late, but they always get there in the end... course that's just before the plane is brought to a catastrophic crash landing thanks to those pesky terrorists. Anyway... for episode 6 Scott was joined once again by Alex and Dan to review Kriv Stenders new Australian film Lucky Country. But they start things off with sound awkward Harry Potter revelations from Alex before trying to giveaway copies of Eric Bana's Love The Beast. After the loss of our discussion of Michael Mann's Heat the team move straight onto another fight about women in Mann's films as they take on The Insider.Hope you enjoy, please email us your own thoughts toworseaddictions[at]gmail.com andtune in next week for as we record from the Melbourne International Film Festival and discuss Miami Vice and Collateral. Worse Addictions: Episode 5

Things got pretty heated as the team took on Michael Bay's latest helping of pyrotechnical cinema Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. There's a chance for you to WIN a copy of Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg just before listening to the team discuss Manhunter in our Michael Mann Body Of Lies series. Hope you enjoy, please email us your own thoughts on Transformers, Happy Together or Manhunter at worseaddictions[at]gmail.com. Tune in next week for your review of Last Ride.

Worse Addictions: Episode 4

Despite the editor's failure to bring the power cord for his laptop the Worse Addictions team were able to record episode 4 of the show with the help of a super speedy second half. Alex Parker and Matt Riviera returned to the studio – much to the relief of Scott Henderson and Josh Wheatley – in time to review the new Australian film DISGRACE, directed by Steve Jacobs and starring John Malkovich. The guys (and gal) open the show by talking about Alex's recommendation for film viewing in hospital and Josh's latest DVD purchases. They also introduce our new trailer competition, the Can't Say No feature where one of the team challenges someone to watch a unseen film before the next episode and finally we kick start our Body Of Lies feature on Michael Mann. Hope you enjoy the show folks and please come back next week when we review Transformers 2.
